The Community Engagement Coordinator is one of the most visible faces within and outside of the agency. Primary responsibilities include management and coordination of the volunteer program, supervision of agency volunteers and support of their staff supervisors, outreach and marketing of the agency and it’s community engagement opportunities, and assistance to the Executive Director in the implementation of events, marketing activities and resource solicitation.
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Location: SE Multicultural Service Center 4610 SE Belmont St Portland, OR 97215
-Recruits, screens, trains, supervises and places community, faith-based, corporate volunteers, as well as community groups, practicum students, and community service volunteers in agency programs.
-Supports and trains agency staff who are supervising volunteers in effective volunteer management and support, including use of Volgistics.
-Coordinates aspects of and assists in the planning and implementation of special events, including: Inspire Luncheon, Holiday Campaign, Y-ACT, Ballot Brunches, Forums.
-Supports volunteers through volunteer-supportive events, per best practice, e.g. social events.
-Collaborates with agency programs and staff to communicate to local businesses, community groups, and faith-based organizations agency in-kind needs.
-Serves as a liaison to partner agencies and contributors, including: Oregon Food Bank, Oregon Community Warehouse, Deseret Industries, Easter Seals, University Internship Programs, Tuesday Morning.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely meet the following requirements:
-Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
-Minimum of three years experience in community relations, event planning, resource development, and volunteer coordination.
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
-Understanding of nonprofit organizations and basic fundraising principles.
-Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, internet.
