Location: Portland Metro
Closing Date: open until filled
Industry: Business, Finance, Technology
Type: Full Time

The company:

Our mission at Simple is to bring humanity, elegance, and ease to the consumer banking experience. We focus on beautiful interfaces, transparent policies, modern technology, and extraordinary customer service.

The job:

As an Operations Consultant at Simple, you will quarterback and coordinate operational consulting projects across Simple geared towards making our business more sustainable, our operations more scalable, and our effectiveness more remarkable. You will maintain and prioritize a pipeline of consulting work in support of specific operational teams. You will serve as a trusted strategic and tactical advisor to leaders at varying levels across Simple. You will analyze the workflows, procedures, and tools used by Simple and our operational partners to identify areas where those operations can be made more sustainable and scalable. You will mine our operational data to extract actionable nuggets of operational intelligence and insight. You will listen, explore, and seek to understand the way that operational teams actually operate on a day-to-day basis and you will, empathically and respectfully, seek to make it better. You will be an agent of change who works very closely with the operational leadership to improve everything about the services that Simple provides. You will collaborate closely with Operations, Customer Relations, Product, and Finance to ensure that Simple’s operations can scale to service millions of customers while retaining its values and service levels for customers.

You will be the subject matter expert around process improvement at Simple. In addition to leading and contributing to consulting projects, you will also be responsible for evangelizing process improvement across Simple and building more expertise around formal approaches to process improvement within BizOps and across Simple’s operational areas.

About you:

You are passionate about process and finding a better way. You have experience building and improving operational processes. You are service-oriented and skilled at building durable relationships with your customers. You understand that there’s a balance to be struck between empathy and efficiency. You’re great at observing how people are working today and envisioning how they could work tomorrow. You’re able to calibrate your communication style to your audience and not afraid to ask questions or suggest improvements to someone with more seniority. You know everything can always be improved, but understand the need to balance the pace of change with the real people impacted by that change. You understand that as an advisor on matters both strategic and tactical, your recommendations may not always carry the day and you’re comfortable helping execute someone else’s vision.

You live and breathe process analysis, improvement, and optimization. You sweat the smallest details of each tree, but can level-up to understand and explain the forest they’re in.

What you’ll do all day:

Evangelize process improvement across Simple and train other consultants, analysts, and operational leaders.
Provide informed strategic and tactical advice to Simple’s operational leaders.
Lead consulting engagements of varying complexity across Simple’s diverse set of operational groups.
Evaluate and help implement new business partnerships and tools in support of building a more scalable operational model for Simple.
Analyze processes, workflow, and tools to prioritize improvements that will allow us to scale efficiently as Simple grows its team and customer base.
Partner with Simple’s Product teams and operational leaders to improve how Simple serves it’s customers and achieves its operational objectives.
Combine data analysis and business acumen to deeply understand Simple’s operational data and recommend strategies and tactics that can improve our operational success.
Leverage strong cross-functional relationships to get your work done.
Solve problems as needed

We'd like to see:

Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
Substantial (6+ years) prior applied experience with multiple process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Business Process Management (BPM).
Experience training and developing other members of your team.
Experience collaborating with all levels of peers from executive to entry-level positions.
Demonstrated history of initiative and strong project management skills.
Expertise in proven process improvement methodologies and experience innovating workflows and processes across teams.
Experience identifying, understanding, and explaining trends in data.
Experience summarizing and communicating complex situations in a clear way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong spreadsheet skills; SQL and programming skills are a bonus.

Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
