WEEK LONG VOLUNTEER CAMP COUNSELOR
Camp To Belong Northwest

Closing Date: 7/21/2017
Industry: Education, Nonprofit, Social Services
Type: Full Time
Camp To Belong Northwest is looking passionate volunteers to be camp counselors for a week long summer camp experience that serves youth currently separated from their siblings through the Oregon foster care system.
With over 8,000 youth residing in foster care here in Oregon, 70% are separated from at least one sibling. No fighting over who sits where in the car. No playing pranks on each other. No sharing secrets. No celebrating birthdays together. We provide a safe, neutral, week-long camp environment for them create childhood memories together that they would not have otherwise due to living in separate homes.
Volunteer counselors spend the week in family groups with 5-6 other counselors and 10-15 campers participating in all sorts of fun camp activities. These activities include swimming, arts and crafts, archery, spending time on the beach, field games, carnival, camp wide birthday party, amongst others. We have a wide volunteer base. Our volunteers range from ages 18-75 and come from all different backgrounds and fields of work.
If you have a passion for youth, sibling reconnection, or camp programs, and are looking for an opportunity to help facilitate an incredibly empowering program for Oregon youth, then this is an opportunity for you!
The dates for the 2017 camp sessions are:
June 23rd - June 30th (this is including the required staff training)
August 11th - 18th (this is including the required staff training)
We are currently looking for male volunteers for our June session, and female and male volunteers for our August session.
