VP of Engineering

Develop, drive, and execute the technology strategy to deliver on an aggressive product roadmap! Shape the future of Engineering at Ruby by building on team infrastructure and processes to fuel our growth.  The VP of Engineering will report to the Chief Product & Technology Officer and works in partnership with our VP of Architecture from our downtown Portland HQ. Overview This is a strategic role that requires comfort and strength in presenting and communicating our software development strategy with leaders and functions across the company and in the wider technology community. In partnership with the VP of Architecture, you’ll build a strong long-term technology strategy that aligns with the company’s strategic plan and product vision, and influences the overall company direction. You will align and inspire your Engineering and QA organization by engaging the team in the strategy. Key Accountabilities·        Ensure the product vision is realized through timely, efficient delivery. Optimize people, processes, and systems to drive efficiency and excellence in development. ·        Lead, manage, and develop the department of software engineers, QA, and managers. Create a team culture and community that embraces the Ruby Core values, and has an ethos of continuous learning and improvement.  ·        Create and support a collaborative, cross-functional environment, bringing development/QA, UX, Architecture, and Product together to ensure alignment and timely releases of products and services in support of critical company initiatives. ·        Define, measure and make visible metrics to track our delivery on the product vision and strategic goals. Track results in a supportive, motivating, and fact-driven way. ·        Provide technical leadership to drive the evolution of our development processes and technology, and socialize that vision. Proven ability to execute, lead, and manage change.·        Record of inspiring teams, developing managers, software developers and driving roadmap execution·        Experience building teams and designing new team structures and processes·        Experience defining and measuring software development KPIs·        Expertise in Agile/Lean development methodologies·        Practical experience with DevOps, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, experience with Docker a plus·        Experience with mobile and web application development·        Experience with .Net, C#, AngularJS, experience with GO a plus·        Bachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science or related fieldWork EnvironmentWork takes place in an open office setting. It requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time and communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer. This position may travel occasionally.
