We support nearly 490 volunteer court-appointed special advocates (CASAs) who serve and advocate for the best interests of abused, neglected and abandoned children under the protection of the Juvenile Dependency Court. Long Juvenile Justice Center, 1401 NE 68th, Portland, OR 97213 Washington County230 NE 2nd Avenue, Suite I, Hillsboro, Oregon 97124Columbia County2514 Sykes Road, St. Helens, Oregon 97051Job Type:1 FTE, Non-Exempt – 40 hours per week, some flexibility in days/timesPosition Description:The Recruitment Coordinator oversees volunteer recruitment efforts for Multnomah and Washington Counties, collaborating with the Training/Recruitment Manager and Program Director to establish measurable goals in accordance with the strategic plan. This position recruits and screens a diverse, high quality pool of prospective volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASAs, who advocate for children in the foster care system.  The position focuses on increasing community awareness of CASA through a variety of outreach efforts; it is the first point of contact for prospective volunteers or those seeking more information about CASA for Children, Inc. and maintains communication with prospective volunteers from first contact until they have completed an application.  Compensation:Starting range is $38,000-$40,000, commensurate with experience. Compensation includes a benefits package with medical, dental, flex, disability, retirement, and generous Paid Time Off and holiday schedule.RecruitmentDevelop and implement innovative strategies to reach a broader pool of potential advocates, enlisting help of former and current CASAs.Community Outreach:  Build relationships/partnerships with area businesses and service organizations and community leaders to recruit CASA volunteers and increase awareness of the CASA mission in diverse communities in Multnomah, Washington Counties.  Special focus given to recruitment of more male identifying, black and African American, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ volunteers.o     Host/staff tables or booths at community events and volunteer fairso     Conduct speaking engagements at philanthropic and religious organizations and businesses  o     Record PSAs and interviews on local radio stationso     Attend Chamber of Commerce and community partner meetingso     Attend networking eventso     Distribute posters / flyersAdvertising / Social Media: Collaborate with the Director of Development & Communications to identify PR and advertising opportunities to increase community awareness of the CASA program and generate volunteer interest. o     Spearhead efforts to place ads and articles in local publicationso     Attend networking eventso     Work with Administrative Assistant for Recruiting and Training to increase recruitment related social media presenceRespond to initial inquiries about CASAo     Respond to initial e-mail and phone inquiries from prospective volunteerso     Maintain contact with potential CASA from initial inquiry until application is receivedo     Update volunteer information in database with each subsequent contactOrientations: Conduct monthly orientation meetings and special recruitment activities for prospective volunteers. Offer individual orientations as needed. o     Develop an annual orientation schedule for Multnomah and Washington Countieso     Maintain email communication with registrantso     Conduct orientationso     Follow up with attendeeso     Assist Training/Recruitment Manager in evaluating and screening prospective volunteers Other DutiesData Tracking/Reportingo     Collect and analyze statistics pertaining to recruitment, use data to inform active efforts o     Provide Training/Recruitment Manager. Program Director, and Grants Manager with data  as requestedEncouraged to sit on Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee to ensure recruitment efforts, messaging/collateral are aligned with committee’s work and organization’s goalsDesign and order print collateral for use in program-wide recruiting (brochures, posters) in collaboration with DEI Committee, Program, and Development staff.  Other duties as assigned.Knowledge/SkillsExcellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
