About Candlelighters:Founded in 1977, Candlelighters For Children With Cancer supports the whole family when a child is diagnosed with cancer. We provide emergency financial assistance to families devastated from the expenses associated with treatment, catered meals for families at Doernbecher and Randall Children’s hospitals, a 24/7 food pantry and a weekly snack cart that runs through the pediatric oncology unit and day clinic at Doernbecher. Outside the hospital we offer monthly family activities and educational workshops, scholarships, bereavement support, support groups, funeral fund assistance and our annual family camp.  Our organization is statewide and at no time is any family charged for any program or service provided by Candlelighters. Candlelighters receives no state, federal or national chapter funding. We rely on the generosity of corporate and individual donors, foundations grants and our fundraising events. About the Events and Fundraising Manager position:Candlelighters events are a vital tool in celebrating and communicating not only what we do but “why” we do it. Our events give voice to the passion we have for all that we do. This position is key to our success and requires a highly organized, energetic, creative, detail oriented and motivated person to serve as our lead for event planning, revenue generation, management, production and sponsorship. Events include an educational fundraising breakfast, a 5K, and a fundraising gala, plus assisting the Program Director with logistics for our annual Family Camp and Candy Cane Lane. The position deals with a wide range of responsibilities that include: seeking & securing sponsorships, event theme building, creating event programs, communicating with event attendees & corporate donors, marketing, contracting vendors, coordinating event logistics, timelines and tasks as necessary for event production. The Events & Fundraising Manager must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines. The Events & Fundraising Manager should have a passion for people and relationship building, special event management, provide outstanding communication to Candlelighters staff, vendors and event attendees and volunteers, be an enthusiastic professional, and be capable of building strong and positive relationships with donors and partners.We are seeking an energetic and proactive Events & Fundraising Manager who will be responsible for delivering multiple events that inspire and engage donors in the organization’s mission. The position reports to the Executive Director.Key responsibilities:• In partnership with the Executive Director, develop and implement the annual event fundraising plan that moves Candlelighters toward its goals in collaboration with the Board of Directors.• Manage and coordinate special events, including the organization’s fundraising events and external third-party events.• Coordinate and deliver donor-centered communications for events and appeals.• Maintain relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, vendors and partners associated with the events and campaigns.• Develop volunteer roles for the organizations events including volunteer recruitment, orientation, training and support.Fundraising Role 15%• Assist with the development and implementation of the annual fundraising plan.• Maintain fundraising events calendar for our team and volunteers.• Maintain records of donor, participant, and sponsor contact in Salesforce.• Provide support for communications with donors and prospects.• Identify, cultivate and secure third-party fundraising activities.Special Events 70%:• Manage and coordinate the organization’s fundraising events, including Cancer Warrior Breakfast (April), Superhero 5k (June), Ride For A Child (September), Harvest of Hope our annual gala (October).• Help recruit non-board members to serve on event committees.• Organize and facilitate event committees by working closely with the Event Chair, coordinating event committee meetings, developing agendas, monitoring action items and engaging committee members.• Maintain relationships with Ride For A Child contacts and renew their support each year; recruit and solicit new corporate sponsors; recruit team captains.• Annually create and manage peer-to-peer fundraising pages for Superhero 5k and Ride For A Child through the Sweet! platform by Bluesky Collaborative.• Responsible for the logistics of all events, including volunteer recruitment, building relationships, day-of-event event production & management.• Work with the Director of Communications & Database Operations to create event-specific direct mail and email lists from the donor database.• Coordinate and track event attendance for all events.• Work with Director of Strategic Programming and Evaluation to coordinate any needs for our families to be involved with events and fundraising. • Participate in the recruitment and solicitation of individuals and businesses for auction items and in-kind contributions for events.• Serve as point person for third-party events.• Coordinate contracts with event vendors and in-kind donors.• Prepare budgets; forecast income and expenses for your events.• Provide corporate sponsor fulfillment and other partner obligations.• Track and report on event fundraising results and participant involvement.• Work collaboratively on events with all members of the team, committee members and board of directors to achieve event fundraising goals. Communications & Marketing 5%• Give input on organizational and event messaging strategies.• Give input on and contribute writing to newsletters and other donor communications.• Assist with video production for Cancer Warrior Breakfast and annual gala. • Manage the creation and design direction of event-specific collateral.• Manage relationships with designers, printers and other marketing vendors for event collateral and signage.• Develop creative ways to thank donors and update them on the impact of their giving.Volunteer Management – 10% • Track volunteer contact information, interests, and event volunteer hours in the database.• Recruit for volunteers at events. • Develop a plan and system for recruiting volunteers and communicating volunteer opportunities.  • Develop creative ways to thank and engage volunteers.  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure that volunteers are oriented, included, trained, and supported as necessary.Minimum Qualifications:• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field. • Previous experience in fund development, event management, fundraising events, project management, marketing, communications or equivalent.• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written forms, as well as forge and maintain relationships with event stakeholders, with a strong focus on quality customer service.• Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as contributing to a collaborative team environment.• Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.• Skilled in developing work plans with tasks and tactics that achieve strategic goals and outcomes for each event and the organization.• Results oriented with a desire to attain new goals each year.• Experience with fundraising databases.• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.• In-depth knowledge of social media and peer-to-peer fundraising platforms.• Provide own vehicle with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.Preferred Qualifications:• Greater Giving / Auction software experience• Google Drive / G Suite experience• Web and graphic design skillsCompensation and benefits:• Salary to commensurate with experience.• 12 paid holidays per year, sick time, generous PTO• 75% employer paid health and dental benefits, plus employer paid life and disability insurance• IRA with employer match• Flexible schedule with partial telecommuting opportunities
