Close date: 2/16/2020Salary: $4957 – $7259Location: PortlandThe Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Environmental Public Health (EPH) section  in Portland, OR is recruiting for an Emerging Environmental Health Risks Lead to coordinate strategic policy initiatives and response to emerging environmental health threats and outbreaks in alignment with health equity and other modern public health system foundational capabilities. We identify, assess and report on threats to human health from exposure to environmental and occupational hazards, and advise the people and communities of Oregon to best understand potential risks where they live, work and play in order to remain healthy and safe.What will you do?As the Emerging Environmental Health Risks Lead, you will work with EPH section staff, program managers to coordinate cross-division and interagency collaboration to articulate strategic environmental health policy priorities and respond to emerging environmental health threats. You will coordinate environmental risk reduction projects; facilitate meetings to establish protocols for responding to outbreaks; evaluate public health service delivery and effectiveness to reduce environmental health risks; design, analyze, evaluate findings, and oversee data collection for surveys and informational interviews,  and recommend policy and operational changes; develop processes for systematic organizational improvement with team members, internal program partners, and other state agencies In this position, you will also evaluate policies and research current trends in environmental public health; identify populations at disproportionate risk to various hazards;  identify program partners and recommend coordinated risk reduction efforts with an emphasis on populations at disproportionate risk and measures to increase health equity; collaborate with EPH staff and other PHD sections to develop work with colleagues in EPH and other PHD sections to develop and provide policy recommendations to the EPH Management team; analyze related research and legislation and recommend section action; make strategic policy recommendations across programs, with special consideration for issues of health equity and climate change;  and provide guidance and consultation to local public health departments and other state agencies.What’s in it for you?You will work with a team of public health professionals who are passionate about the work they do to reduce environmental health threats to the people of Oregon.
