DevOps Technical Manager

Powell’s Books, the nation’s top independent bookseller, is looking for a DevOps Technical Manager.As DevOps Technical Manager, you will address Powell’s Books’ toughest technical challenges by working with cross-functional product teams to support execution of the organization’s strategic vision. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the operating environment for Powell’s Books’ mission-critical applications. You will work with cross-functional product teams to continuously improve the reliability, security, and functionality of the applications and services we provide to our internal and external customers.   The ideal candidates thrive in a transparent, collaborative culture where operations and development staff work diligently to deliver the best possible experience for our loyal customers. You will apply your experience building automated continuous delivery pipelines to enable Powell’s Books to rapidly evolve our products and services while maintaining a high level of security and reliability. You will be responsible for migrating our legacy bare-metal infrastructure to cloud-based infrastructure while implementing automated configuration management, effective monitoring, and a continuous testing and deployment pipeline.   You are a skilled mentor and are comfortable managing systems administrators, database administrators, developers, and QA engineers. You are metrics driven and value information sharing, cross-training, and technical collaborations. You are comfortable leading organizational transformation, hiring, and onboarding new team members. In this role, you will build Powell’s Books’ DevOps practice, culture, and team and that sounds like fun to you. The wage range for this position is $90K to $130K per year, depending on experience.
